Kitasoo Lake Dam Access Road

This project will construct an access road from the community of Klemtu (Kitasoo IR1) to the community water supply dam at Kitasoo Lake. Currently no vehicle access roads extend to the dam site and historical construction activities required access on foot, or equipment and material transport via heavy lift helicopter. The existing dam is in poor structural condition and is leaking, representing a substantial risk to the community's water supply. The new access road is necessary to facilitate emergency dam stabilization work (planned for late-summer 2025), dam replacement (planned for summer 2026), and long-term dam safety operations. In summary, this will be a single-lane resource type road suitable for use by pickup trucks and standard civil construction equipment. The finished road will be gravel surfaced. Clearing widths and total project footprint are currently being finalized through detailed design.
