Rehabilitation of Water and Sanitation Infrastructure in Health Facilities in Northwestern Tigray Ethiopia

Project Summary:

This project, funded by the Canadian Government through Global Affairs Canada (GAC) under the Comprehensive Humanitarian Multi-Sectoral Response for Conflict, Disaster and at-Risk Communities in Ethiopia, Lebanon, Syria, Ukraine and Yemen (2024-2026) initiative, and implemented by International Medical Corps (IMC), aims to improve healthcare services in Northwestern Tigray, Ethiopia. The project focuses on rehabilitating water and sanitation infrastructure in healthcare facilities and maintaining shallow water wells in surrounding communities. The activities in Ethiopia include rehabilitation of 20 non-functional shallow water wells by replacing hand pumps and maintaining sanitary aprons. Additionally, the project will provide non-food hygiene items (laundry, and bathing Soaps, bucket and Jerry cans) to the most vulnerable 1000 families. The maintenance of 7 blocks of toilets and handwashing facilities at health centers are also planned. Target health facilities will be provided with cleaning/disinfection, and medical waste management supplies.
