My concern as a citizen of north western Ontario, is the fact that the Nwmo has tried to include the transport of nuclear waste under the same established rules for the transportation of hazardous goods. This is a completely different category . I feel this group has thrown so much money out , to economically depressed communities, that the truthful information has been skewed. With transporting 3 semis per day and rail shipments, for 50 years from southern Ontario is very disturbing. Radiation doses of gamma rays and neutrons will be emitted for , on an average, 1800 kms. Would you like to drive highway 1. On a trip from Toronto to Thunder bay behind one of those trucks?? Also, in case the federal government isn't up to speed on how many transport trucks have been in collisions between Sudbury and Kenora this past year, please check the stats . Check Highway 11 as well . So, there's absolutely at time WHEN the accident will happen. There's no "IF"!!! Ask yourself what's the worlds most precious commodity right now? It's pure clean water. North western Ontario is the treasure trove of that. Please don't let these bullies comprise that.
