I will never support the movement of nuclear waste up the highway from point of production.  

The local area had supported it being buried locally.

My property in Armstrong Station on Clearwater lake was one of the properties used to track seismic activity.  They placed large batteries in tubs in the ground and a meter to track activity.  The battery tubs were covered with dirt and a solar system was used to power the batteries.  The group would come up to collect data once a year for 5 years.  The Canadian shield is NOT as stable as we are lead to believe.  I understand the need for nuclear for medical reasons and some power.  i do not believe we should be totally reliant on any one source of power and fuel.  

Transportation can never be done safely enough.  the main issue is the driving and training of truck drivers which has been totally and irresponsibly dropped by MTO .  Drivers are able to hand over cash and receive the documents they need to drive transports even if they have not done the training.  This is documented on Marketplace.  Widening the highways is not going to solve the problem of safe transport - simply creates more room for more bad drivers.  

I was disappointed, as an Indigenous person, in Wabigoon Ojibwe lakes nation acceptance of this.  I will support Eagle River's fight.  the human race in general especially those of us lucky enough to live in Canada - has NOT done enough to minimize our waste output through reuse, recycling etc.  

I would like to have seen all the money that has been poured into the northwest - Ignace, Wabigoon Lake Band OJibwe Nation, the financial support of different local organizations, - that money should have been poured into the exploration of how to REUSE nuclear waste.  Instead - the great northwestern ontario is again being seen as a giant dumping ground.  

Yes, people need jobs.  Big manufacturers, mines, plants, etc have a very poor record of clean up and if things go down - the companie just walk away and leave the local communities to clean up the mess which is usually very toxic (GRASSY NARROWS is still fighting to this day.

so - bottom line for me - i do not support the movement of nuclear waste from the point of production.  There are no guarantees that something will not go wrong.  Just one incident - could drastically impact the entire water system and environment.  

i am digging through boxes to find the research project that i was a part of .There were many other properties across the northwest that were involved.  i no longer own that property in Armstrong Station.
