Misinformation

After looking at someof the comments on this registry, it's obvious that a lot of people have not taken the time to learn more about the DGR.  There appears to be a lot of misinformation.  One example is the statement that the area around the DGR is an earthquake zone.We live on the Canadian shield which is some of the oldest and strongest rock in the world.  Most certainly in Canada.  All of Canada is divided into earthquake zones.  The area in which the DGR is located is the lowest risk in Canada if not the world.  There have been earthquakes in this area, the most recent 2 have been in January of this year, but they have been of no significance.  Most of the earthquakes in this area are caused by other earthquakes far away on fault lines or the lifting caused by the glaciers thousands of years ago.  There is nothing to fear in this area

Accidents

There are a lot of accidents along the 11/17 corridor.  So, you should be asking yourselves WHY?  If the Nuclear waste was not being transported you should still be asking yourselves WHY?  Don't put the onus on NWMO.  Do we need increased enforcement of licensing of drivers, more inspections of vehicles, etc.  There are good truckers out there and there are some bad ones.  Wel have all seen the dashcam videos.  Do you not realize that are other hazardous materials being transport through communities.  What if a transport loaded with Chlorine gas were to rupture at the junction of Harbour View And the Expressway?  It would be a disaster.  So why aren't pushing to make our "highways" safer?

Impact Assessment

Everyone on this registry is asking for a full Impact Assessment.  This is just the start of the Assessment.  There is so much more to come and many other opportunities to express your thoughts and comments.  I would just say that everyone who wants to ask questions and make comments should do a little more homework.  Don't just jump on the bandwagon because of what someone told you.  Ask the Questions.  Ask what happens if there is a spill on the highway.  Ask how much exposure there would be if the transport were parked overnight at a rest stop.  Just reach out and ask.  That's what I did and I sat on the fence for a long time.  Nuclear Free North's statements and answers finally told me I should vote in favour of the DGR.

I fully support the project and I have a cottage only 5 miles from the DGR site.  I still have a lot of questions I want answered that appear elsewhere on this registry.

My thoughts are that NWMO needs to set up some sort of information booth or facility in the larger centres so that people can have easier access to information and ask the questions.

I would like the Impact Assessment Registry to Accept Other Document formats like word.
