Does Eagle Lake agree? Do the citizens of Thunder Bay and surrounding areas agree?

Northwestern Ontario is deeply concerned about the impact of plans to transfer radioactive material using our highways. In short, if you don't want it travelling through your backyard, what makes you think we want it in ours? We didn't sell the materials all over the world for some future deal of storing the spent reactors. You didn't consult with us when you signed on the dotted line. But of course you were going to use us from the onset.
Eagle Lake Fist Nations is not even at the table where the storing of this waste is concerned even though the impacts on their community could be devastating. Eagle Lake needs to sign off on this deal before anything moves forward. To do otherwise is wrong in every way.

In the early 90's you brought an unqualified man from Chalk River and made him president of our university here in Thinder Bay. We knew what you were up to then and it has certainly come to fruition now. Eagle Lake needs to agree to this. I do not give my permission for you to use our highways to transport your waste through our community. How do you people sleep at night? How do you look yourselves in the mirror. You wouldn't want this and neither do we. We are people too.
