Role of communities along transportation routes

Host communities decide the repository — transportation corridor and the DGR’s watershed communities inherit many risks.
Ignace and Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation (WLON) are willing to continue the assessment of the site, and (perhaps) eventually agree to host. Every transportation corridor community must accept decades of shipments despite not having a role in choosing the site — creating multi-regional consequences. All communities on Wabigoon and the Turtle-Rainy River Watersheds have not been consulted. Ignace has been identified as a potential “hosting” community, yet they are not in the same watershed as the DGR site. How can such a consequential decision be made without considering transportation issues and concerns?
