SUMMIT LAKE LNG PROJECT COMMENT

Methane leaks are possible catastrophes, as well as massive global heating impacts.

Global climate is the crux - methane emissions at 120 times the warming of CO2, and we want to provide more to the planet?  NO

Cumulative effects of exploration, drilling, and fracking to supply the gas, the pipelines to transport it, the railway line through communities where an accident cojuld decimate the entire community in minutes, and if in fire season, could burn thousands of hectares of forests, a railway adjacent to a single transport corridor, a rail line adjacent to major rivers where spills could cause unknown harm and fires,  ALL THIS FOR A FEW JOBS AND A FEW DOLLARS?     THIS PROPOSAL IS MADNESS

How thoroughly did the project examine cumulative impacts of all the LNG projects across BC, on the availability of fossil gas, the impact of fracking and extraction, the need for electricity, or combustion of the gas for transport, compression and liquefaction?

Risk to humans, wildlife, fish, migrating species, communities, transportation corridor, as well as end users.

Emissions MUST INCLUDE "SOURCE TO USE"!   CUMULATIVE IMPACTS, not just locally, regionally or nationally, but internationally.

LNG IS NOT A CLEAN FUEL.  IN FACT, REPLACING OIL AND COAL WITH LNG WILL INCREASE GLOBAL TEMPERATURE, AS THE CARBON AND AEROSOL PARTICLES WITH OIL AND COAL HAVE BEEN SUPPRESSING THE GLOBAL HEATING FACTOR!

Emissions must include FULL CUMULATIVE ASPECTS:  exploration - roads, trails, seismic lines; well development, drilling, water supply and use, waste water disposal - all fracking impacts; pipeline development and operational impacts; rail transportation - leaks, boil-off!; rail engine emissions - source to wheel; storage; shipping; and all the factors at the point(s) of use.   These are not adequately addressed.

What are the cumulative impacts to date?  How will this plant reduce those impacts?  How will the plant offset the huge carbon emissions from sale and use of the product?   THIS IS A REPEAT OF THE TOBACCO INDUSTRY HISTORY - BAD, HARMFUL PRODUCTS TO MAKE A FEW DOLLARS.

We can develop clean industries and jobs, build communities that are resilient and do not rely upon cutting tress and extracting oil and gas and harming our planet.   USE INDIGENOUS WISDOM, STEWARD THE LANDS, WATER AND AIR, NOT POLLUTE AND DESTROY.

OVERALL, THE PROJECT CONCEPT IS RIDICULOUS.  THE UN HAVE DECLARED A CLIMATE EMERGENCY!   NO NEW FOSSIL FUEL EXTRACTION PROJECTS!   APPROVAL OF THIS PROJECT WILL CONTINUE TO DESTINE YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TO AN UNLIVABLE PLANET.  DO NOT APPROVE ANY ADDITIONAL FOSSIL FUEL EXTRACTION OR COMBUSTION PROJECTS!  PLEASE!!!

THE ENTIRE PROVINCE, ESPECIALLY THOSE COMMUNITIES BURNED OR FLOODED OUT OF THEIR HOMES, SHOULD HAVE A SERIOUS CONVERSATION AND VOTE ON "DO WE WANT, AND CAN WE SUSTAIN, FOSSIL FUEL EXTRACTION PROJECTS IN BC?"

Please engage all the climate concerned groups across BC, utilize the Youth Climate Corps for meetings and canvassing.

NOT JUST THE REGION, BUT ALL OF BC. CANADA, AND GLOBALLY!  DOES THIS REVIEW PROCESS NOT RECOGNIZE THAT EMISSIONS DO NOT STOP AT A PROVINCIAL BOUNDARY???  PLEASE READ ALL THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS RE CUMULATIVE IMPACTS.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT YOU WOULD LIMIT INPUT TO THOSE AFFECTED WITHIN A FEW KILOMETERS OF THE PROPOSED "PRINCE GEORGE NIGHTMARE LNG PLAN'?  CONTINUED FOSSIL PROJECTS ARE DESTROYING THE PLANET, AND WE NEED TO WIND-DOWN EXISTING PROJECTS!!!
