Rehabilitation of 3 water supply extensions on pre-existing schemes in Northern Ethiopia

The initiative to improve the health, sanitation, hygiene and protection of internally displaced people and affected host communities is funded by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented by World Vision Canada. The project will strive to reach individuals with gender-responsive water, sanitation and hygiene interventions, to ensure a protective environment by implementing sexual and gender-based violence risk mitigation, prevention and response interventions and to address urgent nutrition needs by supporting nutrition services including repositioning of supplies, among others. To improve access to safe water and thus to improve hygiene and sanitation practices, this initiative includes the rehabilitation of 3 water supply extensions on pre-existing schemes in Northern Ethiopia. This work may include elements of 1) protection work for open springs, 2) shallow well hand pump maintenance and replacement, 3) pipeline maintenance and extension, 4) maintenance of water points, 5) maintenance of reservoirs, and 6) maintenance and replacement of electromechanical system of deep wells, depending on each water point's need.
