Trans-Mountains KP400.2 Derr Creek - TMPL 24" Depth of Cover and Bank Protection Mitigation

Trans Mountain Pipeline ULC plans to conduct depth of cover mitigations on the 24" pipeline within the Derr Creek watercourse crossing in Jasper National Park. Annual geohazard assessments identified inadequate cover of the existing pipeline and risk of bank scouring during high creek flow events. To complete the work, the watercourse will require isolation at the site location and flow diversion around the workspace in order to place materials required to meet the engineering hydraulic assessment for protection of the pipeline. The GAPS fibre optic line will be installed at the same time to reduce the need for additional instream work. Some riparian vegetation will require removal for access and bank repair. Reclamation of aquatic habitat and any upland staging areas will follow construction.
