On grid photovoltaic solar farm wheeling system for the Greater Ajloun Municipality, northern of Jordan.

GAC funds will be used for the installation of a PV solar farm with the capacity of 900 KW AC for the Greater Ajloun municipality. Greater Ajloun municipality is one of the districts of Ajloun governorate and has a population of 68,503 inhabitants.

The project activities will include land clearness and levelling, installation of a PV wheeling system (consisting of photovoltaic panels, steel structure for mounting the panels, inverters, civil works, cables, delivery station), access roads and fencing on around 15,000 sqm south of the selected location.

Initial technical, environmental, and social inspections took place showing positive results, detailed impact assessments will take place in consultation with local community ahead of execution. The project will result in creating local job opportunities, capacity building, and economic savings which will be utilized for providing better services. It will also serve as a reference for other municipalities and government entities to adapt.

November 14th, 2022 – The public comment period on the project is closed. Global Affairs Canada is considering comments received to help inform its determination on whether the carrying out of the project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
