Sunshine Village Ski Resort Ski Out Widening Tree Removals

Sunshine Village Ski Resort is proposing to widen the ski out, through calculated tree removal, in one strategic location, to reduce skier congestion and improve egress for skiers during peak times of the day. The proposal is in alignment with the Parks Canada Ski Area Management Guidelines (2006) and the supporting Site Guidelines for Development and Use Sunshine Village Ski Resort (2018), in which it was identified that congestion on the ski out at peak times currently exceeds safe skier density industry standards, and that proposals to widen the ski out in advance of a Long Range Plan would be considered. Total area proposed for tree clearing is 6,800m2. All work will be completed by hand crews and ground disturbance will not occur.
