Food and Nutrition Security and Climate Change in the Sahel

The Food and Nutrition Security and Climate Change in the Sahel (SANC2S) project is funded by the Canadian government through Global Affairs Canada and is implemented by Development and Peace and its local partners to tackle malnutrition, food insecurity and poverty in communities in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso. In this context the following construction and related activities are planned: in Burkina Faso, construct 3 agro-processing centres with warehouses and 4 processing units, and develop 2 2-hectare (ha) fenced market garden sites with water towers; in Niger, construct a store and 30 warehouses, rehabilitate 15 warehouses, and develop 13 1-ha irrigated market garden sites with boreholes/wells; in Mali, construct 5 warehouses, 3 service centres, 4 agro-processing centres and 3 boreholes, develop 2 2-ha ecological farms with wells, deepen 2 1-ha sandy ponds, and develop 7 1-2 ha irrigated market gardening areas, 5 3-ha agro-silvo-pastoral sites, and undertake 3 17.5-ha anti-erosion, soil restoration and water retention facilities.
