Paving & Walkway & Curb Work

The Federal Government Facility located at 29 Schurman's Point Road in Summerside, Prince Edward Island is a single level facility built on grade and is approximately 140 meters away from the nearest water source. The 914 meter squared facility was constructed in 1994 and has a brick veneer, wooden frame, metal roof, and a concrete foundation.

During routine maintenance activities and inspections, it has been brought forward that the existing parking lot is in poor condition and must be replaced. The current condition of the parking lot presents tripping hazards to the tenant and general public. The recommendation to replace the parking lot is to resolve the existing hazardous conditions.

The intent of the project is to repave the existing parking lot which is 1980 meters squared, replace the walkway(s), associated curbing, and paint new parking lot stalls.

The scope of this project is generally comprised of: Removal of the existing asphalt and subgrade for the driveway and parking areas with reconstruction of asphalt driveway and parking areas. Supply and install new subgrade materials as identified by the consultant and approved by BGIS. Concrete curb removals and repairs. Removal and construction of concrete walkways. Repairs to existing signage (as needed – the intent to re-use all suitable signage and replace only the signs that are no longer suitable for use). Temporary relocation of existing shed as needed to perform demolition and construction activities. Re-instatement of all affected areas. Parking stall line painting which includes any required hatched sections. Parking lot paint should include anti-slip material(s) that will prevent slips/trips/ and falls. Recycle waste material where possible and generate a report on the type and amount of material diverted from landfill facilities.
