Airfield Pavement Repair/Replacement, 12 Wing Shearwater, Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax, Nova Scotia

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to carry out airfield pavement repair/replacement activities at 12 Wing Shearwater. The proposed project is expected to consist of the removal existing asphalt and concrete pavement, placement of granular materials and installation of new asphalt pavement in select locations on Ramp 1 (totalling approximately 3,025 m2). Milling and replacement of existing asphalt pavement on the FATO (approximately 2,560 m2) is also proposed. Surplus soils are not anticipated. The work is expected to take place Summer/Fall 2021.

May 28, 2021— The Department of National Defence issued its Notice of Determination and determined that the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
