Provision of reliable water supply to three remote settlements in northern Pakistan

The Aga Khan Planning and Building Services   proposes the repair and rehabilitation of an existing main water line connecting three remote settlements in Chitral, north Pakistan: Seen Lasht, Dolomutch, and Singoor; to the water source (a spring) located in Mogh, 27 kilometers away. The Project will also include new water line connections to 40 homes. In total, the Project is expected to provide a reliable water supply of 553,000 litres/day to 763 households (6100 people).

The settlements are home to some of the most underprivileged, disadvantaged, and isolated communities in northern Pakistan. Lack of stable water supply compounds the prevalent issues of health, hygiene, education, etc. which further deteriorates the quality of life of these isolated communities and increases their risks and vulnerabilities to pathogens including COVID 19.

Project Activities include:

  • Repair approximately 350 meters of 110mm pipes and associated infrastructure will be installed to repair the existing main line at ShaSha
  • Install 100 meters of 63mm pipes, 300 meters of 32mm, 400 meters of 25 mm, and 600 meters of 20mm pipes,  including associated infrastructure such as fittings, storage tank and two valve boxes to accommodate 40 additional homes
  • Install an under-ground water storage tank with capacity of 11325 liters
