To whom it may concern;
This message is intended to provide formal comment on the proposed Fifteen Mile Stream Gold Project by Atlantic Mining NS Corp. and the related Environmental Impact Statement.
On behalf of our company, MacGregors Industrial Group, we wish to speak strongly in favour of supporting the progression and development of the Fifteen Mile Stream site.
Atlantic Mining NS Corp. has a proven track record in Nova Scotia with four consecutive years of economic benefit to rural Nova Scotia, without detrimental impact to the environment in which it operates.
It is critical for there to be a balance between supporting economic growth and ensuring environmental sustainability. Without a healthy and active economy, particularly in our rural areas, there are simply far less financial resources available to support environmental improvement projects such as renewable energy, water treatment, wildlife sanctuaries and more.
It has become quite discouraging as business operators in Northern Nova Scotia to regularly see companies whom we are fortunate to have interested in investing in our area, caught up in red tape and presented with a scenario that is often less than welcoming. Our community of Northern Nova Scotia has seen nothing short of devastation in the Industrial sector within the last decade. Long term, middle class employment opportunities are a mere fragment of what they were even ten years ago.
The Fifteen Mile Stream project has the opportunity to present good paying, sustainable careers for the current and upcoming generations in this area, while injecting millions of dollars annually into the local supply and service sector. We have the local workforce with a purpose built skillset to support projects like Fifteen Mile Stream who are ready to work when the opportunity presents itself.
In closing, we feel that the insignificant environmental risk in comparison to the substantial economic benefit to our region should make for an easy decision for our legislators. Let’s get this mine built and do our part in supporting economic prosperity in Nova Scotia.
Best regards,
Nick MacGregor
