  • Red Sky Métis Independent Nation (RSMIN) thanks you for the opportunity to comment on the above noted project. After reviewing the RSMIN community data and the details of the project, at this time the RSMIN community does have some concerns regarding the current land use for the proposed project activities. The location of the project area falls within an area that is extensively used for traditional purposes.  The following comments and concerns need to be addressed: The proposed truck route needs to be clarified for our community to understand the environmental impacts. How did the proponent decide the route? Is the liquefied natural gas coming from Ontario or Quebec? What company is trucking the LNF?

Shareen Han – MECP response received November 8, 2022. MECP response – Each mine is reviewed individually, and states that neither proponent meets the requirements under the cumulative effects policy for air emissions on an individual basis. Each operation may be able to comply with Ontario’s air emissions standards (O.Reg. 419/05) on an individual application, but the policy that regulates cumulative effects cannot be pre-determined in an individual application framework.
