Notice of Termination

Ottawa – January 30, 2013 – The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) decided to terminate the screening, pursuant to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012 (CEAA 2012), of the Construction of a Fertilizer Plant in Bécancour Project (the Project).

On January 15, 2013, IFFCO Canada Enterprise Limited (the proponent) provided information to the Agency regarding changes to components of the proposed Project.

The Agency considered the information provided by the proponent on January 15, 2013 and determined that the designated project was no longer the same as the one described in the project description received on December 5, 2012.

The proponent has indicated that they expect to formally submit a revised project description in the near future. Once the Agency has received a revised project description and determined that it is complete, it will examine the new information and decide whether a federal environmental assessment is required for the revised project, including a 20 day public consultation.
