The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. DND is proposing repairs to the existing Bentinck Island Jetty and Float at the Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot (CFAD) Rocky Point in Metchosin, British-Columbia. Repairs are required due to the age of the structure, and failure of one of the steel mooring piles for the float during a storm in December 2024. Repairs will include the removal of four timber piles and two steel H piles on the jetty structure, and the installation of six new steel pipe piles in the same locations. The remaining steel mooring pile for the float will be removed, and two new larger diameter steel pipe piles will be installed. A new gangway and float will be installed following installation of the two new mooring piles. The proposed work will require the use of a barge-mounted crane equipped with pile driving equipment.
