Purchase and Install Trailers Real Property Operations – 14 Wing/CFB Greenwood

April 16, 2026 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. DND is undertaking an infrastructure project for Real Property Operations (RP Ops) Detachment Greenwood to acquire and install ten temporary trailers due to the closure of 5 Hangar. The new trailer site will be located at 14 Wing Greenwood, within the 8100m² field between 4 Hangar and 5 Hangar. The estimated total square footage of the trailers will be 1350 m² and will include approximately 1155m² of temporary paved access road. The adjacent parking area previously used for Hangar 5 will be re-used for this project, meaning no new parking spaces will be required. All trailers will be hooked up to existing sewer, potable water, communications, and electrical utilities. Approximately thirty-five people will be actively occupying the trailers. However, they will be used for conferences and storage space for one hundred people. The project scope includes acquisition and installation of the trailers, in-house site preparation completed on utilities by RP Ops staff, re-use of a transformer previously used on another job site, and paving of temporary roads. In the future, Hangar 5 will be demolished under another project.
