Enoch Cree Nation Wastewater System Upgrades
Notice of Determination
Edmonton – April 1, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Enoch Wastewater System Upgrades Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
- impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
- Indigenous knowledge;
- community knowledge;
- comments received from the public; and
- technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:
- Environmental protection measures for wetlands, watercourses, wildlife, and migratory birds;
- Compliance under compliance ISC Protocol for Centralized Wastewater Systems in First Nations Communities (2010), The Alberta Standards and Guidelines for Municipal Wasteworks, Wastewater and Storm Drainage Systems (2012), Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations under the Fisheries Act, and Alberta Public Health Act Nuisance and General Sanitation Regulation (2024);
- Adherence to AER's Pipeline Rulesand CSA Standards for Pipeline Safety;
- Spill response and reporting procedures;
- Waste management requirements
