Notice of Determination

Edmonton – March 30, 2026 – Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Cold Lake First Nation English Bay Gas Station Project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

• impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
• Indigenous knowledge;
• community knowledge;
• comments received from the public; and
• technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.

Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:

• Environmental protection measures for wetlands, watercourses, wildlife, and migratory birds;
• Compliance with the Storage Tanks Systems for Petroleum Products and Allied Petroleum Products Regulations and tank registration through FIRSTS;  
• Spill response, emergency plan, and reporting procedures;
• Waste management requirements
