York Factory Proposed Ditching and Drainage Project – Public Comments Invited

March 24, 2026 Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Ditching and Drainage Project, located in York Factory First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

The project involves identifying existing drainage deficiencies, evaluating road and surface runoff conditions, and developing conceptual and detailed solutions based on field data, community input, and technical best practices. The main components of the recommended drainage improvement works include shallow excavation work, culvert installation, riprap placement, revegetation and limited road upgrades/realignment.
