Notice of Updated Decision Statement

Ottawa — March 16, 2026 — The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) has published an administrative update to the Decision Statement for the LNG Canada Project to clarify the mitigation measures in condition 3.9 to their original intent and align them with monitoring requirements approved in the provincial Marine Monitoring Plan by:

• changing the term "noise" to "sound pressure";
• restricting the underwater noise exclusion zones to cetaceans and pinnipeds instead of all marine mammals, as no harm was predicted to other marine mammals during the environmental assessment; and,
• removing the distance threshold to rely solely on the sound pressure threshold for delineating the pinniped exclusion zone.
