Public Notice

August 8, 2025 – Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada must determine whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

Written comments must be submitted by September 07, 2025 to contact identified on the project page.

The Proposed Project

Bell Canada plans to install submarine fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to residential homes in Barbers Lake, Bennett Lake, Black Lake, Otty Lake, Big Rideau Lake and Izzat Lake. The project involves the submarine fibre optic installation of 2.17 km in Barbers Lake, 0.78 km in Bennet Lake, 1.37 km in Black Lake, 0.5 km in Otty Lake, 0.46 km in Big Rideau Lake and 0.043 km in Izzat Lake.
