Public Comment Period on Intent to Make a Determination
Shared Services Canada Upgrades – 22 Wing North Bay

August 7, 2025 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The purpose of this project is to install aerial and buried telecommunications infrastructure including underground vaults and interconnected duct banks. Construction will include the following activities:

• Excavation of trenches.
• Installation of concrete encased ducts and conduit.
• Installation of NEMA boxes, telecommunications vaults and manholes.
• Installation of telecommunications room infrastructure.
• Installation of aerial telecommunicaitons infrastructure.

Upon completion of the work the affected areas will cleaned and re-instated to original conditions, as practicable.
