Dokis First Nation - Chaudière Bridge Replacement Project
July 9, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed construction of the Chaudière Bridge Replacement Project, located in Dokis First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project
Dokis First Nation is proposing the construction of a replacement bridge on Keso Bay Road, approximately 1.8 km south of Dokis Reserve Road/ Main Street over Lower Chaudière Rapids of the French River. The proposed footprint of the bridge/ abutments/ embankments is approximately 1,229 m2 of undeveloped area and situated over 150 m2 of the French River. Physical activities include tree clearing, construction of a temporary detour road, new road alignments, and the new bridge, removal of the existing bridge, decommissioning of the temporary detour road once the new bridge is operational, and site restoration once the project is completed.
