The Proposed Project

Saulteaux First Nation is proposing to develop a new subdivision to meet the needs of the community. The proposed subdivision development project will consist of the construction of 28 lots, complete with underground utility installations, site roadways and ditching, lot grading, and construction of a new sewage pumping station. The proposed site is located approximately 3 km south of the community core area, and is currently utilized as pasture grazing lands.

Site preparation activities will consist of topsoil stripping. The band has previously completed all clearing and grubbing activities required at the site. Construction activities will include installation of underground utilities, roadway construction, lot grading, and construction of a new sewage pumping station.

Solid waste will primarily consist of packaging for building materials. Construction waste will be confined and collected from the site, with ultimate disposal to a designated off-reserve landfill facility. Liquid waste will consist of septic waste from workers present during construction. Portable washrooms will be utilized with frequent collection and disposal to the lagoon.
