The Proposed Project

The Corporation of the County of Northumberland plans to install underground fiber optic cabling, for Internet purposes, to all residential homes in the Alderville First Nation Reserve. The project involves the installation of approximately 16km of underground and aerial fiber optic cable from the intersection of Highway 45 and Division Street along the edge of Highway 45 to the intersection of Highway 45 and 1st Line Road, as well as from the intersection of 2nd Line Rd. and Marsden Ln along the edge of 2nd Line Rd. to the intersection with Highway 45 and continues along Highway 18 to the intersection of Sunset Bay Rd. This also encompasses the additional streets within the area mentioned above.

The cable will be buried by directional drilling, trenching, or using existing conduits, or a combination of these methods in existing roadway alignments, and will be suspended on support structures to connect to residential homes and businesses.
