Little Grand Rapids First Nation Transitional Housing (Temporary Housing)
Little Grand Rapids – May 28, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed Little Grand Rapids First Nation Transitional Housing (Temporary Housing) is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
- impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples;
- Indigenous knowledge;
- community knowledge;
- comments received from the public; and
- technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:
- revegetation of disturbed soils with native vegetation
- effort will be made to limit the losses to habitat where feasible
- schedule site clearing activities to respect territorial species and bird SOCC and migratory birds to reduce loss of habitat etc.
- apply standard erosion control measures to reduce surficial erosion
- apply emergency spill response plan through the construction phase of the project
Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
Therefore, Little Grand Rapids First Nation may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
