The Proposed Project

Fishing Lake First Nation is proposing to construct a new Prevention Centre building that will house services supported by Jordan's Principal. The overall footprint of the facility and parking area will be approximately 1.6 ha. The building will consist of a concrete structure. Piles and grade beams are anticipated with timber framed walls. Water service will be tied into the existing water mains located within the nearby grid road allowance. Approximately 400m of sewer main will be routed from the existing sewage pumping station located at the school site to the Prevention Centre building. Gas service, power & telecommunication lines will be routed to the nearest tie-in to existing utility mains.

Site preparation activities will consist of topsoil stripping. Construction activities will include excavation to the building footing depths, followed by concrete and foundation works and timber frame construction. Other activities will include installation of subsurface utility servicing infrastructure, parking lot, and access roadway construction.

All anticipated waste generation from construction activities will be responsibly handled and disposed of at designated off-reserve facilities. Procedures will be implemented to mitigate any potential contamination pathways for petroleum products for on-site equipment.
