The Proposed Project
The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing to replace a deteriorated steel culvert located under the access road to the 50-metre firing range. The road has partially collapsed due to the condition of the existing culvert. The culvert extends approximately 15 metres from a sediment retention structure to the outlet at the bank of the Sackville River. Project activities are expected to include installation of appropriate sediment and erosion control structures, excavation of the roadway, temporary stockpiling of excavated material, replacement of the existing culvert with a corrugated plastic culvert including installation of a precast concrete headwall at the riverbank, backfilling the roadway with stockpiled material and imported gravels to meet existing road grades, and reinstating disturbed adjacent areas. Work is expected to take place during the summer low flow period, June 1 to September 30, 2025.
