Thunder Bay FFTA Remediation Project - Permeable Reactive Barrier Installation, Thunder Bay, Ontario – Public Comments Invited
April 30, 2025 – Transport Canada must determine whether the proposed Thunder Bay FFTA Remediation Project - Permeable Reactive Barrier Installation, Thunder Bay, Ontario,  is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Transport Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

Transport Canada proposes to complete a remediation project at Thunder Bay Airport in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  The project will include the installation of a Permeable Reactive Barrier to treat groundwater. Work will include trenching / digging, staging area, backfilling, and temporarily increasing the footprint of the mowed area. 

Transport Canada is the proponent for the project.
