Proposed Project
Peepeekisis First Nation is proposing to construct a new wastewater lagoon system for treatment, storage and disposal of the community's wastewater. The lagoon improvements will be required to service the design population of 1237 people in 2043.
The project consists of the construction of two new cells, a treatment cell of 3.2 ha at full service level and a storage cell with a capacity of 96,800 m3 at full service level. A new approximately 7600 m 150 mm diameter HDPE DR17 forcemain originating at the SPS would be required to convey sewage to a new lagoon at Site 5. The existing pumps at the SPS are not sized appropriately to pump the design flow of 10.2 L/s to Site 5 and would need to be replaced with pumps with larger motors. Associated electrical and ventilation upgrades would be required as part of the pump replacement. A pump station upgrade would include the addition of a separate electrical room with a standby generator to bring the station to modern standards. Vehicle access to the lagoon site will require construction of a new access road, spanning approximately 2400 m. The existing lagoon, main line and pumping station will be decommissioned as part of the project.
