March 21, 2025 — The Department of National Defence must decide whether the proposed project is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this decision, the Department of National Defence is inviting comments from the public on the project and its potential effects on the environment. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) Canadian Forces Housing Agency (CFHA) is proposing to construct two semi-detached housing units on St John Avenue and three 12-unit apartment-style buildings on Huron Street in Oromocto, New Brunswick. The Project area is within the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown (5 CDSB) Gagetown CFHA housing area, both sites are currently vacant and have not been previously developed based on historic aerial imagery provided by the Department of National Defence. The sites will include the building, associated parking lots, sidewalks, fencing and shed structures along with installation of overhead services, connection to the existing municipal water system and sanitary sewer lines by the Town of Oromocto.
