YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel - Soil rehabilitation on the site occupied by Mecachrome Canada Inc.
Notice of Determination
February 20, 2025 – ADM Aéroports de Montréal has determined that the soil remediation project in a retention pond on the site occupied by Mecachrome at YMX International Aerocity of Mirabel is not likely to cause significant adverse effects on the environment by applying the mitigation measures provided for in the project.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
- Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures listed below;
- Community knowledge;
- Indigenous knowledge and impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples.
The mitigation measures considered for this determination are as follows:
Reduction of dust emissions
- Place the soil on a canvas and cover the piles.
- Clean the storage area of soil and traffic areas after the work, either manually or with a street broom.
- Use dust cover on trucks during transport.
Stormwater quality
- Do not carry out the work in the presence of surface water in the pool.
- Cover the sumps with a geotextile before the work.
- Cover piled soils.
Soundscape
- In order to limit the impact of noise on neighbouring occupants, a working time slot from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. has been implemented.
Contaminated soils
- Management of contaminated soils in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Accordingly, ADM Aéroports de Montréal may exercise its powers to enable the project to be carried out.
