Road drainage, Resurfacing and Paving in Rapid Lake – Public Comments Invited

February 19, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Road drainage, Resurfacing and Paving in Rapid Lake is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

The project consist to perform a complete reconstruction and modification of the existing streets and drainage in the Algonquin community of Barrier Lake located in Rapid Lake. The reconstruction of the streets and drainage include: The rehabilitation of the existing surface drainage, dismantling and replacement of driveway and cross culverts, the replacement of the streets sub-foundation by a appropriate substructure, the addition of a storm sewer on some selected main roads and the paving off  the whole community including curbs & sidewalks on the selected strategic main streets.
