Southeast CFS Little Grand Rapids Staff Housing (Personnel and Visiting Professionals) and Prevention Centre – Public Comments Invited
February 19, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed Staff Housing (Personnel and Visiting Professionals) and Prevention Centre, located in Little Grand Rapids First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project
The Project involves the construction and operation of a new 2,122 square meter FNCFS Youth Prevention Centre building and a new 701 square meter staff housing building on LGRFN reserve lands to provide recreational, emergency, and support services to youth in the community and their families. The Project also includes the construction of (Attachment 1, Figure 2):
• a 153 square meter detached vehicle garage at the FNCFS Youth prevention centre site for storage of maintenance equipment
• a 1,078 square meter paved parking lot
• a new (approximately 300 m long, 8 m wide paved access road/vehicle loop) connecting to the existing teacherage road northwest of the school
• new water & wastewater service connections to the Sites from the adjacent teacherage road northwest of the school
• a 24 square meter screened in deck at the staff housing site
• a 121 square meter vehicle garage at the staff housing site
• a 265 square meter parking area designated for the staff housing (combined with the CFS parking)
• site development, including landscaping and installation/construction of outdoor features such as outdoor lighting, patio/ gathering space and sweat lodge space
• connection of the Sites to power, water, and sewer services from the adjacent teacherage road right-of-way, approximately 200 m northeast of the Sites, including clearing of trees, installation of poles and overhead wires, and open trench excavation for underground utility connections.
