February 3, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed wastewater treatment project in Bearskin Lake First Nation is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public. For more information, individuals should consult the Privacy Notice on the Registry website.

The Proposed Project

Bearskin Lake First Nation has proposed the construction of a new wastewater treatment lagoon cell with wastewater collection piping. Physical activities will include vegetation clearing, construction of the lagoon, installation of piping, construction of road access, and re-seeding of disturbed grounds once the lagoon is constructed. The total footprint of the lagoon is 90,000 m2.
