Notice of intent to make a determination

Witchekan Lake First Nation Cultural Centre – Public Comments Invited

January 30, 2025 – Indigenous Services Canada must determine whether the proposed [project title], located in [project location] is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects. To help inform this determination, Indigenous Services Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination.

The Proposed Project

Witchekan Lake First Nation is proposing to construct a new cultural centre. The centre will provide a dedicated area for traditional and cultural activities for members of Witchekan Lake First Nation and surrounding communities. The centre will be a typical small wood-framed commercial building. Indoor and outdoor gathering spaces will make use of an indoor kitchen equipped for large events. The two-storey building will provide elevated views of the surrounding area.

Connections will be made at the property line to existing water, sewer, power, communications and natural gas lines.
