The Proposed Project
Saulteaux First Nation is proposing to build a new firehall and vehicle storage facility to meet the needs of the community. The project involves the construction of a new building, complete with four bays for vehicles and a workshop area. The building will be located within the core area of the community immediately adjacent to the existing public works building.
The proposed activities include excavation to footing depths and construction of the building foundation, framing, exterior and interior. No vegetation removal is proposed as the band has completed vegetation clearing and grubbing of the proposed site. The surrounding site will be landscaped following construction of the building.
Waste debris and material associated with the project will be disposed of at approved existing waste management facilities, and excess soil will be used on site for landscaping purposes, stockpiled for future use and/or removed to an appropriate approved location.
