The Proposed Project

The Department of National Defence (DND) is proposing a project. The project will initially involve repairing damage to an approximately 150m section of battle lane at Melfa Range, located within the Range and Training Area of 4 (CDTC) Meaford. This aspect of the work will involve scraping the topsoil and underlying substrate, laying aggregate and replacing the topsoil. The project will further involve the installation of four, 0.25m x 4m plastic culverts, in separate locations, diagonally across the battle lane. The purpose of these culvert installations is to improve existing natural drainage features across the foot traffic portion of this range. Trenches will be excavated for the proposed culverts and aggregate will be laid in the trenches and properly graded and compacted. After the culverts are installed, the trenches will be backfilled with aggregate, topped with topsoil and, all effected areas from the project will be hydroseeded.
