The Proposed Project
This project involves concrete and railing repairs at the Rideau Falls Dam Complex in Ottawa, ON.
- The first part of the railing repairs include routine touch-up coating to the upstream & downstream railings on both Rideau Falls East and West Dams. The work area is limited to the deck of each dam.
- The second part of the railing repairs include the fabrication and installation of a new code compliant railing between the mechanical deck and the pedestrian deck on both dams as to meet the required height needed for cyclists. The work area is limited to the deck of each dam.
- The concrete repairs will be limited to the exterior face of utility trench, sidewalk, curb and fascia on the East dam, and to the retaining wall on the West dam. The concrete rehabilitation will include the removal (ie. chipping, scarifying, drilling and cutting) and the placing of concrete. The steel repairs would include grinding, blasting cleaning (ie. water or sand), welding and painting.
- Also included in the scope is the supply and install of temporary and removable aluminum gates at each end of the dam for the health and safety of pedestrians during steam operations.
