FESTI - Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Props Control System Replacement
September 19, 2024 – The Greater Toronto Airports Authority has determined that the proposed FESTI ARFF Props Control System Replacement at 2025 Courtney Park Drive, Mississauga Ontario is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:
· Impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples.
· Indigenous knowledge.
· Community knowledge.
· Comments received from the public; and
· Technically and economically feasible mitigation measures.
Mitigation measures taken into account for this determination are:
General
- All work to be conducted in compliance with the Toronto Pearson Airport Construction Code.
- All activities at the airport are conducted in an environmentally responsible manner as per Toronto Pearson's Environmental Management System and policies.
Water Quality
- Implementation of a Sediment and Erosion Control Plan throughout construction.
- Implementation of an Environmental Emergency Spills Response Plan.
- The design of the training area contains a liner and closed loop water recirculation system to prevent any water from leaving and entering the environment.
Soil Quality
- A Soil Management Plan will be followed to ensure any contaminated soil is managed in accordance with applicable regulations, including O. Reg 406/19 In-site and Excess Soil Management.
Site Restoration
- Any disturbed area will be restored to existing conditions or better.
The Greater Toronto Airports Authority is satisfied that the carrying out of the project is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.
Therefore, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority may carry out the project, exercise any power, perform any duty or function, or provide financial assistance to enable the project to be carried out in whole or in part.
