Notice of Determination

September 3, 2024 – ADM Aéroports de Montréal has determined that the project for the extension of Taxiways B and P at YUL Montreal-Trudeau International Airport is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects by applying the mitigation measures planned for the project.

This determination was based on a consideration of the following factors:

  • Information from the Environmental Effects Assessment completed in July 2024;
  • Experience with comparable projects on the airport site;
  • Community knowledge;
  • Indigenous knowledge and impacts on rights of Indigenous peoples.

Mitigation measures considered for this determination are:

Air quality:

  • Maintain rolling machinery in optimal working order;
  • Limit the idling of rolling machinery;
  • Water unpaved surfaces to avoid dust emissions caused by heavy equipment traffic;
  • Watering/sweeping/vacuuming of surfaces to capture dust emitted by sawing, crushing operations, etc. at the source.

Water quality:

  • Install sediment barriers to prevent the infiltration of suspended solids into stormwater;
  • Recover and treat water from broom trucks.

Soil quality:

  • Store contaminated soil and contaminated materials in the appropriate manner to prevent contact with soil or surface water;
  • Characterize the excavated soils and manage them in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Accordingly, ADM Aéroports de Montréal may exercise its powers to enable the project to be carried out.
