Notice of Determination

Québec – August 16, 2024 Indigenous Services Canada has determined that the proposed project of "Rebuilding the administrative center in Cacouna reserve" is not likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

This determination was based on the following factor :

  • Feasible mitigation measures for construction-related impacts.

Main mitigation measures considered for this determination are as follows:

  • Prevention of any possible chemical or debris contamination, since the building is located near the St. Lawrence River;
  • Prevention of excessive levels of air or noise pollution, and avoidance of the discharge of waste or volatile materials into the environment;
  • Erosion and sediment control to prevent soil loss;
  • No archaeological resources are affected by the expansion project.

Indigenous Services Canada is satisfied that the project is unlikely to cause adverse environmental effects.

Consequently, Indigenous Services Canada may exercise its powers or provide financial assistance to enable the project to proceed, in whole or in part.
