The proposed project

Some of the bollards at dock no. 3 in the port of Cap-aux-Meules no longer have adequate load-bearing capacity for ships moored there in high winds. Surveys were carried out in the past, and it was recommended that the bollards be rebuilt.

The aim of this project is to replace the 30-ton bollards at dock no. 3 with similar 30-ton bollards.

Implementation of the project will enable dock no. 3 to meet current needs without recourse to operational restrictions, while keeping it safe and efficient. The new bollards will enable efficient berthing for ships docking there, and will have a positive impact on port operations.

The work includes :

- Site mobilization and organization;

- Removal of existing bollard heads;

- Demolition of upper part of existing bases;

- Reconstruction of bases with new bollard anchors;

- Installation of new 30-ton bollard heads.

No in-water work is planned for this project. Work is scheduled for fall 2024.
