Cowansville Institution - CARGO 100 – ANTI-ICE / 11,000 L brine tank 350-91303 – Public Comments Invited

February 21, 2024 – The Correctional Service Canada must determine whether the proposed Cowansville Institution - CARGO 100 – ANTI-ICE / 11,000 L brine tank 350-91303 located in Cowansville, Quebec is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the Correctional Service Canada is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

The project consists of the installation of a rented 11,000 L tank containing Perfo Cycle brine (29.6% calcium chloride and addition of a food additive and a corrosion inhibitor). It will be installed on a flat asphalt surface, within the secure perimeter of the institution.
