[Thompson Very High Frequency Omni-directional Range (VOR) Replacement] – Public Comments Invited

[February 12, 2024] Transport Canada must determine whether the proposed Thompson Very High Frequency Omni-directional Range (VOR) Replacement, located in Thompson, Manitoba is likely to cause significant adverse environmental effects.

To help inform this determination, the authority is inviting comments from the public respecting that determination. All comments received will be considered public and may be posted online.

The Proposed Project

NAV CANADA proposes to replace the existing Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range (VOR) navigation aid located near Thompson Airport. The purpose of the VOR is to provide navigational aid to aircraft operating in the area. The existing VOR structure and equipment is being upgraded to provide an enhanced level of service to aircraft operators. Work will include removal of the existing structure and building, replacement of the electrical service, and installation of a new VOR counterpoise structure, equipment shelter, monitor tower, and associated equipment/antennas/cabling.
